Humanitas Foundation e. V. is an independent German non-profit organisation established in 2002. For more than two decades, the Foundation has supported people in need through humanitarian assistance, education, vocational training, healthcare awareness and sustainable community development.
Humanitas Foundation e. V. was founded in Germany by Dr. Walter Lipke together with his wife Ruth, their son Samuel and close family members. From the beginning, the family shared a simple conviction: a meaningful part of their personal success should be used to help people facing poverty, hunger, dependence, limited education and a lack of opportunity.
This commitment developed into a long-term humanitarian mission. Over the years, the Foundation and its partners have supported children, families, orphans, people with disabilities and disadvantaged communities through practical projects designed to create dignity, independence and lasting change.
The Foundation’s first activities focused on education and vocational training in Germany. These initiatives created opportunities in office administration, business management and information technology, helping people gain qualifications and improve their professional future.
In 2012, Humanitas Foundation e. V. began expanding its humanitarian engagement in East Africa. Working with local partners and communities, the Foundation has contributed to projects involving orphan care, education, food assistance, disability support, healthcare awareness, agriculture, vocational training and community development.
Today, our humanitarian mission continues in Europe and Africa, while a new chapter is beginning in Asia, starting with Sri Lanka. Our approach remains the same in every country: we listen to local communities, respect their knowledge and support practical solutions that can continue beyond short-term assistance.
Our guiding principle is Helping People to Help Themselves.
We believe that lasting change cannot be achieved through dependence. People need access to education, knowledge, practical skills, healthcare, food security and opportunities that allow them to build independent and dignified lives.
Our aim is not simply to provide temporary assistance. We seek to strengthen individuals, families and communities so that they can shape their own future and pass new opportunities on to the next generation.
Food, clean water, health and education are essential foundations of human development. Humanitas Foundation e. V. therefore combines immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term support for self-help, vocational skills, agriculture, micro-enterprise and sustainable livelihoods.
Every project should serve a clear purpose: protecting human dignity, strengthening personal responsibility and creating realistic opportunities for a better life.
Humanitas Foundation e. V. remains a family-guided German non-profit organisation with an international humanitarian vision. We connect experience gained in Germany, Europe and Africa with new partnerships and future initiatives in Asia.
Across cultures, religions and nationalities, we believe that compassion must lead to practical action. Even small, carefully directed steps can create meaningful and lasting change.
