About Humanitas Foundation e. V. Germany

Humanitas Foundation e. V. is an independent German non-profit organisation established in 2002. For more than two decades, the Foundation has supported humanitarian, educational and health-related initiatives in Germany and internationally.

Our work combines humanitarian assistance, education, vocational training, healthcare awareness, support for disadvantaged communities and sustainable development. Our guiding principle has remained unchanged since our foundation: Helping People to Help Themselves.

Our Story

Humanitas Foundation e. V. Germany was founded in 2002 by Dr. Walter Lipke together with his wife Ruth, their son Samuel and close family members. From the beginning, the family shared a simple conviction: a meaningful part of personal success should be used to help people facing poverty, hunger, dependency, limited access to education and a lack of opportunity.

This commitment developed into a long-term humanitarian mission. More than two decades later, Humanitas Foundation e. V. remains family-guided, with Dr. Walter Lipke, Ruth Lipke and Samuel Lipke continuing its work and responsibility.

Together with local partners, the Foundation has supported children, families, orphans, people with disabilities and disadvantaged communities through practical projects designed to create dignity, independence and lasting change.

From Germany to Africa and Asia

Humanitas Foundation e. V. Germany began its work in Germany with education, vocational training and practical support designed to help people build independent lives. These early initiatives combined professional qualification, business knowledge and information technology with our principle of Helping People to Help Themselves.

From 2012, Humanitas Foundation e. V. expanded its humanitarian work in East Africa, particularly in Kenya. Together with local partners and communities, the Foundation supported orphan care, children and families, people with disabilities, education, food assistance, healthcare awareness, agriculture, vocational training and sustainable community development.

Today, our humanitarian mission continues in Europe and Africa while developing new cooperation in Asia, beginning with Sri Lanka. Wherever we work, Humanitas Foundation e. V. respects local communities, cultures and knowledge and supports practical solutions designed to create lasting independence and opportunity.

Our Philosophy

Our guiding principle is Helping People to Help Themselves.

Humanitas Foundation e. V. believes that lasting humanitarian development cannot be created through dependence. People need access to education, knowledge, practical skills, healthcare, food security and opportunities that enable them to build independent and dignified lives.

Our goal is not simply to provide temporary humanitarian aid. We seek to strengthen individuals, families and communities so that they can shape their own future and pass knowledge, skills and opportunities to the next generation.

Bread and Water for Life

Food, clean water, health and education are essential foundations of human development. Humanitas Foundation e. V. therefore combines immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term support for self-help, vocational skills, agriculture, micro-enterprise and sustainable livelihoods.

Every project should serve a clear purpose: protecting human dignity, strengthening personal responsibility and creating realistic opportunities for a better and more independent life.

We seek to nourish both body and mind – because sustainable humanitarian development requires both immediate support and knowledge for the future.

Our Mission Today

Humanitas Foundation e. V. remains a family-guided German non-profit organisation with an international humanitarian vision. We connect more than two decades of practical humanitarian experience with education, health, international cooperation and new opportunities created by digital knowledge.

Today, our mission reaches from direct humanitarian support to the advancement of accessible health education. Through our support of Porta Medika, we help preserve and share trusted health and healing knowledge for people around the world.

Across cultures, religions and nationalities, we believe that compassion must lead to practical action. Even small, carefully directed steps can create meaningful and lasting change.
